Iceberg the Albino Orca

An albino killer whale has been spotted off the coast of Russia. Because of his large white dorsal fin the scientists named him Iceberg. Cute. The news is just being reported this week but Iceberg was spotted two years ago by the researchers. The scientists believe he is about 16 years old and appears to be healthy. Whales are beautiful to begin with but something about being pure white is magnificent. I've never seen an albino (or leucistic*) animal in the wild but have seen many photos. I think it would be pretty awesome to witness it first hand. If a wild, white prey species like a deer, squirrel, or bird manages to survive without any camouflage that would be a rare site indeed.
I may be doing a little investigating about albinism and leucism is wild animals. I'll post more as I learn.
*leucistic animals are albinos without red eyes. They retain their typical eye colors and are a bit more common than true albinos in the wild.
